Singapore’s Thomson Medical goes live with electronic medical record

Thomson Medical, a provider of healthcare for women and children in Singapore, has gone live with MEDITECH’s electronic medical record Expanse at the maternity-focused Thomson Medical Centre.

The centre reportedly sought a solution that could help enhance patient safety and comfort for mothers and babies particularly during the transition between pre- and post-partum care, with CEO Mr Lee Suen Ming stating: “We needed a system that could ensure compliance with healthcare standards, have the ability to integrate with other hospital systems, and deliver seamless integration with Singapore’s National Electronic Health Record in the near future.”

Additionally, features from Expanse such as the ability to link with a fetal heart monitor and allow for “more efficient clinical documentation and data review” are said to have supported the centre’s selection.

At present Thomson Medical is in the early stages of a project looking to integrate medical devices used throughout the hospital into its new EMR, with the aim of further streamlining patient data collection processes and improving efficiencies.
